Amazon Marketplace, which was renamed Seller Central, is the portal where you can sell more books consumer to consumer. It was initially set up to offer used books and allow titles to be sold at discounted prices. However, now it currently provides authors with another avenue to sell their books and reach more customers.
Before you sign up for Amazon Seller Central make sure it fits into your overall book marketing strategy.

AMAZON’S SELLER CENTRAL TIPS:
Decide which of the two programs for Seller Central makes sense for you. (Sell as a Professional or Individual) If you’re interested in just selling your book, I advise choosing the Individual option.
Compliment your other selling programs with the Seller Central Program and take advantage of reaching different customers.
Tip: In the Seller Central portal you will be competing against your book in other Amazon programs and with other book sellers. These sellers buy your book at a discount from a distributor and resell it on Seller Central just to make a buck or two while getting customers through their portal. No matter how much the book is discounted in seller central, you are still earning full commission from your distributor.
Be accurate when setting up your products, especially when it comes to describing the condition of the book. Customers don’t like surprises! If it’s brand new, promote that. If you’re not sure of the condition, it’s better to underpromise and over-deliver.
When posting your title, evaluate the pricing from the other sellers to be competitive. Monitor your listing to make sure your pricing is always competitive but not too low. The higher your seller rating, the more you can charge.
Be prepared to confirm and ship your orders within a couple of days. You can get a poor performance ranking for not shipping on time.[Tweet “Run your Seller Central account the way you like being treated as a consumer”]
Address all customer questions or issues quickly. Customers have the opportunity to provide feedback about the experience. Run your account the way you like being treated as a consumer. A ranking of 95% satisfaction will negatively impact sales.
When you’re just starting out, ask customers for reviews and give them an incentive to follow through.
Having several opportunities to reach different customers is a smart strategy to implement. An author’s goal is to sell books and increase followers. As the largest online retailer, selling on Amazon’s Seller Central platform will complement your other strategies.
